M&D Policy Tools

GFMD discussions, since 2007, have yielded policy recommendations and outcomes, which have been implemented by participating governments, international agencies and experts. These concrete GFMD outcomes serve as policy tools that governments can use to help them adjust their policies, laws and institutional set-ups to link migration and development more effectively.

Available M&D Policy Tools:

	Migration Profiles Repository Migration Profiles are defined as frameworks for aggregating, in a structured and systematic manner, existing data and information on migration and development and other related policy fields.
	Handbook on Engaging Diaspora for Development This handbook attempts to address the pivotal question of how diaspora contributions can benefit their countries of origin and what government policies and programs can more effectively facilitate the linkage.
	Mainstreaming Migration into Development Planning The aim of migration mainstreaming is to address these gaps and to enable governments to take a context-specific and systematic approach to reconciling their countries’ development aspirations with current and prospective migration realities.
