PHILIPPINES TO HOST THE FIRST FRIENDS OF THE FORUM MEETING

GENEVA,   17 DECEMBER 2007

As a preparatory step to the Second Meeting of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) that will happen in Manila in October 2008, the Philippines is hosting the first meeting of the Friends of the Forum (FOF). The Friends of the Forum is open to all States Members and Observers of the United Nations, and is convened to discuss all relevant issues pertaining to the activities of the Forum, including the agenda, structure and format of each meeting of the Forum. International organizations and selected civil society representatives are invited in an observer capacity.

The Philippines requests all who supported the First GFMD meeting held in Brussels in July 2007 and other concerned stakeholders to support the GFMD process and participate in this important preparatory event.
