Transfer of Chair

On the 27th August the Belgian task force, headed by Madame Régine De Clercq, Belgian Executive Director, of the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) received a Philippine delegation led by under secretary of migrant workers Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs Esteban Conejos.

An update was given to the Philippines on the follow-up process of the first meeting of the GFMD as far as reports and outcomes are concerned. A useful exchange of views took place on the lessons learned, key points of the "Belgian" working method and strategy and on prospects of Manila.

Madame De Clercq transmitted officially all the archives and other useful information on the preparatory process of the Forum. From the first of September, the Belgian task force will be dissolved and the Philippines will take over the chair of the GFMD.
